Thank you for creating and providing information about green living. Ready to jump in! Living in NYC and its time to leave, or else learn how to lobby for green living here in the city!

We'd like to respond to the previous Guestbook entry asking for our thoughts on Fergie's decision to auction off her emissions-spewing Hummer on ebay. (The Guestbook entry expressed concern that in an effort to green her own life, Fergie was simply passing on this emissions-spewing lifestyle to the bid winner.) So we checked out the listing on ebay, and here's what we learned (please pay special attention to the second sentence): "After performing at Live Earth and realizing everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment, Fergie decided to sell her HUMMER and donate all the proceeds to Global Green USA. Auction Cause is also donating carbon emission credits for 10 years to help offset the impact." The auction ended on September 15th with a winning bid of $64,199.91. By the way, Global Green USA is the same non-profit supported by Brad Pitt in its building of the first sustainable low-income housing community in New Orleans. To learn more, go to www.GlobalGreen.org and www.AuctionCause.com.

I read your entry that all performers are either "living green" (however that is defined) or are taking steps to "live greener lives". Please note that you can add one more performer to the latter category. Fergie's Hummer is now the feature auction on eBay, so she's now obviously on the path to greendom. But isn't selling the Hummer just passing on it's giant carbon footprint to the next eco-terrorist? Perhaps in the spirit of greenery she could drain all of the Hummer's petroleum based fluids and sink it somewhere off the coast to create an artificial reef. Your thoughts Watch Team?

i think that if you had genuine talented real performers maybe things would change for the better! as it is though, all i can say is, good luck regrouping a dying planet! realism before optimism!
